What is audio modulation?
Updated over a week ago

Modulation effects turn your music video into an immersive experience all with a few simple clicks - lets groove by getting reactive!πŸ’ƒ

How to upload a track

First things first - you'll want to add a track. When adding a track, you'll want to double-click on the Music 🎡 timeline and accept the terms for the copyright disclaimer - be sure that you're only uploading audio that you've created or are authorized to use.

From there, you can upload your track. Once your track is uploaded, the neural network then prepares your track for two types of modulation - your Oscillatory Modulation and your Audioreactive Modulation.

Oscillatory Modulation and Audioreactive Modulation

Once you're ready to create a modulation, you can add a new element in the modulation timeline by double-clicking on the timeline. Once you create a modulation, you'll see two options to select from when modulating your audio - Oscillator and Audio.

Oscillatory Modulation

Oscillatory Modulation uses a sine, square or pulse wave to modulate parameters.

  • BPM Sync: You can sync the modulation frequency to the tempo of your song

  • Frequency: The frequency of the modulation in Hz (1/s)

  • Shape: The shape of the modulation

    • Sine is smooth

    • Square is either the high value or the low value

    • Pulse is a short, high value

  • Amplitude: Amplitude of the modulation in units of the modulation target.

    • For Sine, Square and Sawtooth waves, the wave will oscillate between the original value of the target +/- the amplitude

    • For a Pulse modulation, the value will either be the original value of the target or the original value plus the amplitude

  • Modulation Target: The target of the modulation. The modulation will be added on top of the existing value of this target. You can select from:

    • Strength

    • Pan horizontal

    • Pan vertical

    • Zoom

    • Rotation horizontal

    • Rotation vertical

    • Rotation clockwise and counterclockwise

Audioreactive Modulation

Audioreactive Modulation uses parts of the uploaded audio to modulate parameters

  • Audio Source: Stem Extraction separates each of these sounds:

    • Hihats

    • Bass

    • Kick

    • Drums

    • Vocals

    • Toms

    • Snare

    • Other

  • Modulation Target: The target of the modulation. The modulation will be added on top of the existing value of this target. You can select from:

    • Strength

    • Pan horizontal

    • Pan vertical

    • Zoom

    • Rotation horizontal

    • Rotation vertical

    • Rotation clockwise and counterclockwise

  • Amplitude: The amplitude of the modulation in units of the modulation target. This value will be added to the original value of the target, depending on the strength and the audio source.

πŸ’‘ Idea: Try making an audio visualizer by working with the Kick or Snare on Audio mode using Strength to modulate πŸ–ΌοΈ
